Why Some Questions Can’t Be Answered in Our Sessions

Because these are free, time-limited sessions, we focus on general questions that help the most people. We can’t review individual cases or give personalized legal advice.

Respecting Our Volunteers’ Time

Our pro bono professionals are dedicated immigration experts who usually earn their livelihood by offering paid services. They generously choose to volunteer their time to make immigration more accessible to the community. However, because their time is limited, we focus on addressing questions that can be answered efficiently, ensuring that as many participants as possible benefit from their expertise.

Balancing Complexity and Time

Some questions can be answered quickly because they involve straightforward rules. For instance, confirming that Canadian work experience on a post-graduate work permit counts toward the Canadian Experience Class is a simple “yes.” However, more case-specific questions require a detailed review of your personal information and history, which takes more time. The more individualized the question, the more time it takes to provide a comprehensive answer. This balance ensures we can help as many people as possible within the limited time available.

Not All Questions Have Simple Answers

Some questions simply don’t have a definitive answer. For instance, asking if your application package will guarantee permanent residence approval is far more complex. First, reviewing an entire application package takes significantly more time than addressing a specific question. Second, the outcome depends on multiple factors, including possible changes in the system or discretionary decisions. Even in paid services, professionals can’t always predict or guarantee outcomes.

Adapting Questions for Broader Benefit

To ensure our sessions remain inclusive and efficient, we sometimes need to rephrase or adapt questions—whether submitted in advance or asked on-site. This helps make them less case-specific and more general, allowing the answers to benefit a wider audience. By focusing on common scenarios rather than individual cases, we make the most of our limited time and provide valuable insights to more participants.

Examples of Questions We Can’t Answer

• “Will my PR application be approved if [specific detail]?”

• “I’ll send my résumé—can you tell me which NOC code applies to me?”

• “I’m from [specific country]. What’s the approval rate for my family’s TRV?”

• “My CRS score is [number]—will I be selected in the next six months?”

Still Need Personalized Help? Consider a One-on-One Consultation

If your question falls outside the scope of what we can address during the session—such as case-specific concerns or document reviews—we encourage you to consider booking a private consultation with one of our licensed professionals. Some may offer a free initial meeting, while others may not; each professional sets their own service menu independently.

Please note that we do not manage or influence their paid services. However, our speakers are licensed professionals (*) who adhere to strict regulatory standards and are committed to providing accurate, ethical, and high-quality immigration advice. Their services are a far safer and more reliable source of information than unofficial or unlicensed alternatives.
